How long does it take to print my *insert appropriate
job here*?
Typically we turn around calendars in 7 days. Naturally at certain times of the year (like October, November and December) we get extremely busy and these times can drift out to a week or so. Our advice is "Don't leave it till the last minute!" if you need things by a certain date.
Brochures can often be printed same day provided the artwork is correct. Books, manuals and anything which requires extra binding may take a little longer.
All of this, of course, depends on workload and quantities. It's far easier for us to produce 10 calendars than 10,000 brochures.
Which iPhoto™ products do you print?
At this stage we are printing standard, 12 month calendars, greeting cards and postcards from iPhoto. We may offer extended month calendars (13 months etc) in the future but they're not supported just yet.
How are things delivered?
Calendars are shipped Express Post and this is included in the price. We can only Express Post items up to a certain size and weight. Beyond that, they will be sent regular post. All other items are couriered or sent at the customers expense.
What sort of paper do you use for calendars and cards?
We use Acid Free, archival standard 280 gsm silk paper.
How are the calendars bound?
Calendars are plastic spiral bound with 8 mm coils. At this stage there is no other option for binding. Spirals can be either black or white (please specify if this is important).
How do we pay?
Once we're satisfied the calendars will print OK we'll send you an electronic invoice via PayPal. You DO NOT have to be a Paypal member to make the payment - it's a simple credit card transaction. If you prefer not to do this, we can accept your credit card details over the phone but you will need to advise us of this in advance as our accounts department do not receive copies of the electronic invoices.
How do I get my files to you?
PDFs can be emailed, sent via FTP or you can mail a CD/DVD.
We can accept emails up to 30MB but be aware that many ISPs won't allow files over a few MB to be attached to emails. If you'd like to send files via FTP, we will supply our connection details as required (we prefer not to post them here where people may abuse them).
If posting a CD/DVD simply address it to:
Attn: Print Department
Torch Publishing
47 Allingham St
Condell Park NSW 2200
No matter which method you choose, it's advisable to send an confirmation email which includes quantity, a shipping address and a contact phone number.
How do I know how it will look?
The end result will largely be determined by the standard of the material supplied. Blurry photos will still be blurry photos when printed. Poor colour will still be poor colour - I'm sure you get the idea.
Digital printers are very, very good but should not be considered the same standard as quality offset printing. This is not "fine art" printing but it's also not priced like fine art printing.
We're happy to stand by what we deliver. If you order a calendar from us and are not happy with the result, return it and we will credit you the price minus our postage costs. The reason we offer promotional pricing for the first calendar is so people can see for themselves what they're getting.
Also, take a look at the customer comments on this page - we've had some terrific feedback.
I don't have a Mac or iPhoto, is there anything you can
do for me?
I can be sympathetic! Sorry, just kidding. If you would like a calendar printed but don''t have access to iPhoto or a a Mac simply send us 13 photos (sized to 20x25 cm @ 250 dpi). Name the photo you'd like on the cover "Cover", then name the rest January, February, March etc though to December. We'll place them into a calendar, send you a PDF proof and then print it for you. This will cost you an additional $10 (+GST).
